The Cohiba Story
The Cohiba cigars sold in the United States are handcrafted in the Dominican Republic for General Cigar Company and are separate from the Cuban brand of the same name. The original U.S. expression is often called Cohiba Red Dot for the mark at the center of the “O” on its band.
Red Dot established the modern house style with a Cameroon wrapper, Indonesian Jember binder, and three varieties of Dominican-grown Cuban-seed Piloto Cubano filler. The tobaccos are aged and blended for a dimensional, gently spicy profile. The U.S. portfolio has since expanded through darker, fuller, and Nicaraguan-led lines, but the brand continues to present itself around meticulous selection, long aging, and polished Dominican craftsmanship.
