Partagas traces its name and heritage to 1845. The U.S.-market Partagas story continued when master cigarmaker Ramón Cifuentes brought his family's knowledge to General Cigar; modern Partagas cigars for the American market are made outside Cuba, principally in the Dominican Republic.

The current house describes its approach as a curated one: fewer, intentional blends that respect nearly two centuries of history while continuing to evolve. The portfolio ranges from the classic Cameroon-wrapped Partagas to the deeper Partagas Black Label and newer Dominican expressions using tobacco from the Cibao Valley. Across those lines, the signature is an emphasis on rich tobacco, experienced blending, and a red-and-gold identity that connects the modern Dominican-made cigars to the brand's long heritage.
